Mindset Matters

I have always loved moving my body, dancing and learning about all the new ways and new tech to elevate our fitness. However, things felt twisted prior to healing my mindset.

My relationship with my body and food struggled for the majority of my life. In college, I developed an eating disorder, leading to insomnia, and medical discharge from on-campus living. As a young adult, I tried so many quick ways, some unsafe, to lose weight, as my worth was tied in the externally-conditioned view of beauty. My self-aversion and unhealthy relationship with my body was so strong that I’d avoid going to social events and family gatherings. Looking in a mirror at anything other than my outfit or how my makeup was settling? Forget it. Moving my body was not rooted in anything except fear. Food was the only safety I had, which was the primitive coping mechanism my fearful trauma identity always came back to, until I was able to slowly show up for myself and nervous system in the ways I had been craving my entire life.

I’ve also been injured while working out with a personal trainer, which led to nearly $7k in medical expenses. After an emergency room visit, I was discharged on morphine and was told “time will heal.” A sports injury chiropractor ended up diagnosing & treating thoracic outlet syndrome over the course of three months. The kicker? This happened because I was not listening to my body, nor speaking up for what I knew to be my truth.

I lead women on the path to returning to their truth, which is only found within. When it comes to our bodies, I believe we can move our bodies as a ritual of self-love, celebration and to ground our energy through safe movement. Embodying self-love is a daily practice, and we get to shape what that looks like as we evolve every day of our lives!

My passion for empowering clients to feel safe and strong in their bodies, while feeling that their minds and hearts are on board at the same time, is purely an outcome of my life lived where this was not true for me, and how excruciating it felt. We innately have the ability to choose our energetic yes when it comes to the people, places, things we allow in. That applies to why and how we move our bodies, too!

My approach to fitness is driven by longevity of life, appreciation of how incredible our bodies are and building an iron-clad relationship with my body from a place of self-love. I also want to be rippin’ bells at 90 years old, carrying my groceries and feeling like the badass I know I am. That longevity, physical and mental, is built daily.

I believe the relationship we have with our body is more powerful than any relationship we have with any app, program or coach. When we love ourselves, that love extends outwards, into every aspect of our lives. This love ripples out in more ways than we could ever comprehend!
